چکیده

Subcritical water extraction of horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) parts, such as seeds, seed shell, bark and leaves has been performed in a batch reactor at temperatures 150, 200 250?C times 5, 15 30 min. The obtained extracts were analyzed by spectrophotometric methods to determine the total phenols, carbohydrates antioxidant activity. Furthermore, compounds detected extracts, triterpene saponins (escins), coumarin glycosides (esculin fraxin), phenolic (chlorogenic, neochlorogenic gallic acids) furfurals (5-hydroxymethyfurfural, furfural, 5-methylfufrual) quantified using HPLC. High amount escins was while highest amounts esculin fraxin extracts. phenol content shell which implies that these gave

Horse-chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) seed extract for venous leg ulceration: a comparative multiple case study of healers and non-healers

Background Venous leg ulceration (VLU) is a chronic and recurrent condition that affects around 0.12–1.1% of the Western population. One intervention that is showing promise as a treatment for VLU is horse-chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) seed extract (HCSE), with evidence suggesting that HCSE treatment may reduce wound slough, the frequency of dressing changes and the overall cost of VLU mana...

The content of phenolic compounds in leaf tissues of white (Aesculus hippocastanum L.) and red horse chestnut (Aesculus carea H.) colonized by the horse chestnut leaf miner (Cameraria ohridella Deschka & Dimić).

Normally, plant phenolics are secondary metabolites involved in the defense mechanisms of plants against fungal pathogens. Therefore, in this study we attempted to quantify and characterize phenolic compounds in leaves of white and red horse chestnut with leaf miner larvae before and after Cameraria ohridella attack. A total of 17 phenolic compounds belonging to the hydroxycinnamic acid, flavan...
